I also think that the way the holes in the shell have been placed slightly defeats the purpose of having holes in the first place. One thing that I did notice was that the side buttons are very small, even for a small mouse. It’s another one of the reasons why I believe that certain sections of gamers will struggle to use this mouse as a daily driver. Performance - I've used the mouse to play Valorant, Apex Legends, Kovaak, CS:GO. I had little to no difficulty adjusting to the mouse as it feels like almost the perfect claw grip mouse. Coming from an MM711, the only thing I needed to work with was the lower M1 and M2 button height. Sometimes my fingers would cramp up due to not being used to the heights but after a month of extensive use, I can say that the mouse is almost perfect for me. As I mentioned a couple of times during this review, the Xtrfy MZ1 mouse is not for everyone. They are unapologetically targeting a niche audience and by all indications, I don’t fit into that demographic. Keep that in mind while I run through my verdict. When placed correctly, I don’t mind shell holes as they give my palm some room to breathe, especially during extended gaming sessions. However, the holes that run along the sides of the Xtrfy MZ1 seem to be exactly where my fingers should go.

The Kailh GM 8.0s are so popular in the gaming mice market that it’s almost boring, but that’s only because they’re so efficient and you simply don’t fix something that’s not broken. As a tradeoff though it felt (and still does feel) less ‘stable’ when doing stuff like large horizontal swipes where keeping your crosshairs at an exact height is of importance. Larger mice (for me) have the advantage here because there’s just less room for them to slip around inside your hand when swiping. Scroll wheel - Not gonna lie, this scroll wheel is too far forward especially with the grip style I use (pincer claw). I was able to adjust a few days later but still, the scroll wheel should've been 1cm closer to the center of the mouse. Scroll wheel feels nice with the small bumps whenever you scroll up or down. It's also quiet which is really much appreciated (calling you out Zygen NP-01S scroll wheel) I don’t want to go too deep here because even the definitions on the ‘traditional’ grip styles can be muddy (look up some images and you’ll find that people can have different ideas about what is claw grip, for example) but hopefully this section does help a bit to help you decide if it’s going to be for you.

SOME KIND OF TEXT EXPLAINING SOMETHING ABOUT XTRFYS CUSTOM KEYBOARDS BEFORE SCROLLING DOWN TO THE DIFFERENT PARTS

The inside of the mouse is covered with conformal coating to protect the components against dust, splashes and LAN night mishaps. Upon unboxing this mouse and noting down my first impressions I also noticed that Xtrfy has significantly improved their cable. Compared to the cables on their earlier mice, this one is noticeably thinner and more flexible. If I recall correctly this was something that initially wasn’t planned so props to Xtrfy and Zy for pushing this through after all. The thought process behind the design clearly targets a very specific category of people, and for that section of people, these design choices will be fantastic news. You can also change the weight distribution of the mouse by changing the position of the battery. If you prefer a top-heavy, bottom-heavy, or balanced mouse, all you have to do is unscrew a few screws and move the battery to achieve your desired result. Coating

Hi team here's my review of the Xtfy MZ1 "Zy's Rail" after extensive use for 1 month. I will only comment on the things I have noticed on the mouse. However, I also think that if it’s just not for you, then it’s not for you. There will be many people that will struggle to get used to this mouse as a daily driver simply because it’s just not physically practical for the way that they use their mice. The mouse allows a DPI of up to 19,000, and there are eight levels that you can cycle through to get there. The annoying thing is, there is no software included, so you have to manually cycle through all eight levels. The coating of the MZ1 feels good to me, even though it’s ever so slightly glossy and I’m usually not a fan of that. I had no issues with performance or slipperiness throughout my testing and the mouse also handles sweat and oils rather easily. We've converted this review to Test Bench 1.2. This update simplifies our Weight test and expands on our CPI test from Test Bench 1.1, resulting in changes to test results in both sections. For more details, you can see our complete changelog here. It’s a pretty small mouse. 111mm is shorter than any gaming mouse that I can recall using in a long time, and 59mm width is also pretty narrow. If like me, you’re the type of person that regularly changes DPI depending on what you’re doing with the mouse, this will be an inconvenience.

Xtrfy mice are (so far, at least) plug and play and driverless. Everything that there is to configure can be configured on the mouse itself. That means that gamers who use a non-standard DPI step, for example, will have to adjust (or skip this one altogether) but Xtrfy weren’t greedy with the DPI steps that they’ve included here so I’m quite confident that everyone will be able to find something that they like. That physical footprint alienates gamers that prefer mice with enough palm support, but it’s great for those that prefer to have more room to enable micro aim adjustments by the fingers. The narrow width also makes it feel like the mouse is barely there when you’re holding it, which some people might enjoy. Customization The actual size of the battery is 500 mA, so it is a good range. However, I imagine that the true number of hours of playtime will largely depend on factors such as how you use RGB and the polling rate that you have the mouse set on. The included paracord cable charges the mouse, and it is very lightweight which is nice for times when you still want to play while charging. Cost

The no.1 factor when it comes to aim. Reinvented by a legend in the game. Meet the Xtrfy MZ1 – Zy’s Rail. As usual, though, I want to end this section with a disclaimer: everyone is different. There’s not a single reviewer out there who can tell you what mouse is perfect for you with 100% accuracy without having extensive knowledge about your preferences. Take these ‘this mouse is great for grip Xand grip Y‘ comments with a grain of salt since everyone has different preferences. What works for me might not work for you and vice versa, even if we have the same hand size and grip style. Buttons and Scroll Wheel
