About this deal

Yes, by the end of the film, Vivian is revealed to be Moxie’s creator and publisher. At first, she sets up the zine to unload her own disappointment at the system with which Shelly runs the school. Vivian correctly feels that the school’s policies are unfairly tilted in favor of male athletes like Mitchell. This has given these boys the idea that they will not face any repercussions, no matter what they do. Shelly’s constant attempts to suppress any voices of dissent have only emboldened their behavior. The world is an evil, sexist cesspit that won't let you dress the way you want because you're a girl.

Seth: "But I promise that from now on I'm going to try to listen better about the stuff I can't totally understand because I'm a guy." Unfortunately, while I loved those two (2) moments a whole lot, I really didn't like a lot of other stuff. Like that STUPID ROMANCE and how BORING AND SLOW most of it was. Like, if you're writing a feminist book and it takes a while to get to the feminist part......maybe speed it up.

My English teacher, Mr. Davies, rubs a hand over his military buzz cut. There’s sweat beading at his hairline, and he puffs out his ruddy cheeks. He looks like a drunk porcupine.

I have The Fear, too. I’ve never met a writer that doesn’t. Every damn time I sit down to write and often when I’m just, you know, chilling, The Fear rears it’s hairy butt and moons me. You can use The Fear. I can help you. Lucy takes in a sharp breath. “Wait, what did you just say?” she asks, turning in her seat, her dark eyes wide with surprise. No. This is a DIY course: I show you how to write, edit, design, and publish a book by yourself. You’ll have instructions to follow in multiple formats: written, video, and audio.Enrol early. Female friendship is still all too rare in YA, and this book has it in spades. Each chapter is filled with girls supporting, laughing, debating, and learning from each-other. I especially appreciated how Vivian’s friendship with Claudia wasn’t dismissed just because she also befriends the new girl, Lucie. Girls of different races, orientations, classes and walks-of-life not only work together, but revel in their friendships. It turns out the Big Bad Evil Sexist Principal wasn't JUST a Big Bad Sexist- he was literally stealing money from GIRLS SPORTS to give it to FOOTBALL, which is a BOYS SPORT. As in, LITERALLY STEALING MONEY FROM THE GIRLS TO GIVE TO THE BOYS. I'm frustrated with him, but I'm also frustrated with myself. That I can't find the words to explain it to him. I'm totally sure he's not doing it on purpose, but Seth is a guy, and he can't ever know what it feels like to walk down a hallway and know that you're getting judged for the size of your ass or how big your boobs are. He'll never understand what it's like to second guess everything you wear and how you sit and walk and stand in case it doesn't attract the right kind of attention, or worse, attracts the wrong kind. He'll never get how scary and crazy-making it is to feel like you belong to some big Boy Monster that decides it can grab you and touch you and rank you whenever and however it wants.”Although this is a MicroBook course and I encourage to you to write and publish your MicroBook — there’s no reason why it can’t be the forerunner of a longer book. Viv: "He'll never know how scary and crazy-making it is to feel like you belong to some big Boy Monster that decides it can grab you and touch you and rank you whenever and however it wants." I’ve been thinking about watching Moxie for some time! Thanks for this review, I might need to watch it sooner!

Is this course accessible for me? I've put off weeding that veg bed for a bunch of reasons, none of them good. And so I've wasted more time worrying about the onions than it took me to just do the bloody weeding. Read more Head cheerleader Emma comes forward as the rape survivor, stating that Mitchell, her ex-boyfriend, was her rapist. It happened the previous year when they were dating, and they called her "Most Bangable", which left her mortified. All the students are horrified and lend their support. Principal Shelly overhears and plans to punish Mitchell at last. It’s perfect for you! We’ll make sure your idea is clear and just right for a MicroBook, then you’ll discover how to plan it, outline it, and write every element — then edit it and publish it. I don’t live in the UK. Can I do this course? What is perfect are two final scenes that I will put in spoiler tags here so I can yell about them without anyone yelling at me:I kind of love how unapologetically feminist this book is. The author touches on a lot of different feminist topics, and even mentions how those topics intersect with lgbt issues and with racism. I was expecting the book to be very one-dimensional dealing with those topics. But this book was better than that. There are characters who do sexist things despite trying their best, other characters call them out, and they grow and change. Yay for second chances and character development. I have to say, I would've appreciate a bit more actual intersectionality, rather than characters just talking about it. But in general, that aspect of the book was great. Later, Vivian sees Mitchell taking the soda Lucy was trying to buy and spitting in it. When Lucy reports Mitchell to Principal Shelly, she doesn't want to penalize Mitchell and tries to avoid getting involved. Vivian befriends Lucy, as well as a group of other girls who have been put down, but her best friend Claudia is reluctant to get behind the movement and it causes a rift between them. Vivian also begins a relationship with Seth, who knows she started "Moxie" and supports her. This book was totally amazing! I was in tears near the end with all of the girls standing up together. They were there for each other, girls from all walks of life to stand up against those that try to make them something they are not, for trying to push them into corners to go along with things that shouldn't be. This book is all powerful in its own way. It’s an honour every single day. I help the world’s most interesting, cool, and exciting people do an incredibly hard thing they’re not quite sure they’ll be able to do: write a book that’ll change someone’s world.
