I do not know if it is standardised or if there are different versions of the screws/standoffs. I can send you pictures and measurements of mine but I do not run the exact same mobo. it did, likely still in your motherboard box. Its usually a very small baggie with a single screw or stand off and screw. This would only not be present if it was a used motherboard or an open box that may not be guaranteed to have everything it would at full retail. M2 SSDs usually don’t include the mounting screws, whether they are SATA-based or PCIe based, making it difficult to secure the drive in the system. This includes SSDs from brands like Samsung.Instead of trying to force the wrong length or threading into its place and ultimately damaging your hardware, it’s better to read the user manual or support resources that came with the SSD to know the parts you need to install the SSD. Instead, the screws for mounting the SSD come with the motherboard or the mounting kit you’re planning to install it in. – Why Don’t Some SSDs Come With the Screw? Sorry about the late reply, but I ran into the same issue and looked up the info, so thought I'd drop a useful answer since nobody gave the best one: Not sure if your board has the standoffs or not. Mine did not, but others I have DID have the standoff and screw included. My old one might have had it in box at one point, and I just didn't need it at the time and lost it. My M2 data is just big enofe to fit in all the wey, I dont have a screw feature but a slide one (older models), where after you insert the M2 you move it all the wey and then slide the plastic ,,screw” thingy to hold it in place, well its too big and it hits the ,,screw” so my only posibility is to leave it be at 30° angle, you cant unscrew it or replace the thing, so I am left with 2 choices: 1st – leave it be

So if you want to buy some screws for M.2 standoffs, what you need are M2 screws. Specifically, you want to get the following M.2 screw size: “ M2x3mm“. MacGyver it (Not Recommended) Hello and first of all thank you to help us. I Have a Pavilion Desktop with the motherboard Willow2 ( https://support.hp.com/it-it/document/c05954013). I bought an additional SSD m.2 but to fix it I don't have the right screw. I tried to put a couple of small ones I had at home but it wasn't the right one. Do you maybe help me to discover which size that motherboard's screws need and also (if you know) where I can buy a couple of ones?

Screwing it in is just a precaution to make sure that the drive doesn’t get dislodged if you accidentally bump into your PC or something. To the left are two posts, the nearer one to the M.2 slot is not the problem but the one to the left of that is (just to the right where it says front usb). Now, sometimes, we just have to wing it and find a way to make it work. You’re missing that M.2 screw but you still want to finish setting up your PC now, and not in 3 days when the new screw arrives, right?

So there’s a non-zero chance that there might be a screw that could fit an M.2 standoff in your collection. Yea the M.2 screw is usually just in a little bag, included in the motherboard. They really should be just installed, by default, for less plastic waste, though. Doesn't necessarily let you move to different lengths as it's an OEM thing where they expect you to use their own approved parts.BillyBuerger said:Our Dell Optiplex PCs at work have been using a plastic "clip" to hold the SSDs for some time I think. M2 screws are available in a wide range of materials including steel, stainless steel, brass, nylon, aluminium and titanium as well as exotic materials including Duplex, Super Duplex and Inconel. After that, you can simply unscrew it, install your M.2 drive ( as long as it’s the proper size), and then screw it in.This depends on the manufacturer you buy from. Some brands might provide screws to fit the drive into its slow. Gigabyte usually has the screws already screwed on the motherboard, while others like Dell (such as with the Inspiron 3670) don’t include the screw or even the post into which the screw fits. It only has a hole for the screw needed to install the drive. If you can’t find a dedicated M2 screw, you can try out other screws with a similar size like the screws present on a pencil sharpener.
